Blockchain technology can revolutionize various aspects of enterprise commerce, driving efficiency, transparency and innovation across industries, according to members of the GTIA Blockchain Advisory Council. We asked council members for their thoughts around blockchain opportunities and challenges in 2025. Here’s what they had to say.
Smarter Systems for Fraud Detection, Data Sharing
“The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with blockchain can create smarter systems for fraud detection, supply chain optimization, and secure data sharing. For example, AI can analyze patterns to detect anomalies in blockchain transactions, which can help prevent fraud more effectively than traditional methods.” – Ashu Pande, founding partner, DAY Advisors
Increased Importance of Authenticity, Ownership Rights
“Authenticity and ownership rights are becoming increasingly important with advancements in AI usage. Blockchain technology can be used to establish Proof of Origin of data through several mechanisms, ensuring that data is authentic and hasn't been tampered with. By leveraging these mechanisms, blockchain can provide a robust and transparent way to establish the Proof of Origin of data, enhancing trust and security in various applications, from supply chain management to digital identity verification. For example, originators can sign data with their private keys before adding it to the blockchain. These digital signatures verify the identity of the data originator and ensure that the data hasn't been altered since it was signed.” – Ashu Pande, founding partner, DAY Advisors
More Environmental, Social and Governance Compliance
“Blockchain can facilitate collaboration across different industries by providing a shared, immutable ledger. This can enhance trust and efficiency in multi-party transactions, such as those in supply chains, where various stakeholders need to access and verify the same data records for environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting. Companies can use proof of origin and proof of process to track and report their sustainability practices, ensuring that their claims are verifiable and trustworthy, which can build greater investor and consumer confidence.” – Ashu Pande, founding partner, DAY Advisors
Blockchain Adds Confidence in Regulatory Developments
“Governments and regulatory bodies are increasingly recognizing the potential of blockchain. As regulations become clearer and more supportive, businesses can adopt blockchain technology with greater confidence, leading to more widespread use and innovation.” – Ashu Pande, founding partner, DAY Advisors
Benefits of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs)
“Retail and wholesale CBDCs, powered by blockchain technology, reflects a growing recognition of the potential benefits of CBDCs in improving the efficiency and security of international and everyday transactions. We will see more exploration by central banks to adopt a digital form of cash that provides offline services, high levels of privacy, and instant settlements in central bank money.” – Ashu Pande, founding partner, DAY Advisors
More Efficiencies Within Web3 Ecosystem
“AI agents can be defined as a software system designed to autonomously perform tasks on behalf of a user or another system. With the rise of AI and more users being onboarded into the web3 ecosystem by doing automated tasks like trading, automatically analyzing, information validation, code audits, fraud prevention, making the user experience safer and efficient for new users being onboarded into the web3 ecosystem.” – Germany Beal, co-founder, P2P Cloud
Real-World Assets Will Change Property Purchases, Rentals
“We will see an increase in more real-world assets (RWA) which will tokenize and revolutionize the way we rent and invest into property (both domestically and internationally). Soon, renters won't need to worry about zero-deposit rentals and the innovative rent-to-own HomeFi model allows renters to convert monthly payments into credit toward homeownership, eliminating traditional entry obstacles like deposits or down payments. While investors can invest in property globally through tokenized security and earn fees from the renters.” – Germany Beal, co-founder, P2P Cloud
Zero-Knowledge Proofs Change Verification Processes
“Zero-knowledge proofs are changing the way we can interact and verify information about one another without giving all of the information to the receiving party. Example, imagine being able to prove your age without needing to show your ID containing your personal info like height, address, ID number, and etc. we will see a shift in digital identities and data ownership being leveraged more in our day to day life like hospital, insurance, targeted ad’s, allowing users to control what the opposing party sees, while being rewarded by sharing any additional data.” – Germany Beal, co-founder, P2P Cloud
Decentralized Compute Brings Lower Costs
“As AI is growing in today's society, the need to compute will grow in parallel. We will be seeing an increase in decentralized GPU providers from individuals, allowing the average person to be rewarded for offering compute vs. the funds going to the big providers for less than a third of the cost. By doing so, this will create a redundant ecosystem that's resilient that will continue to run, even in the event of an outage from one of the big conglomerates.” – Germany Beal, co-founder, P2P Cloud
Blockchain as the Backbone for IoT Security
“Blockchain will become the go-to solution for securing IoT networks, providing a tamper-proof system for managing device identities, securing data exchanges and automating interactions with smart contracts. This will reduce vulnerabilities and streamline operations across industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and smart cities.” – Curtis O’Neal, founder, Cybernetics Global
Decentralized Digital Twins for Real-Time Optimization
“Blockchain and IoT will enable decentralized digital twins that track and manage physical systems like factories, supply chains and energy grids. These twins will be AI-enhanced, providing predictive insights and enabling real-time optimization while ensuring data authenticity.” – Curtis O’Neal, founder, Cybernetics Global
Tokenized Economies within IoT Ecosystems
“Blockchain will power tokenized micro-economies where IoT devices can autonomously trade resources like energy, bandwidth or data. Smart cities, for instance, will implement blockchain-based micro-transactions for renewable energy sharing or public infrastructure usage.” – Curtis O’Neal, founder, Cybernetics Global
Decentralized AI Marketplaces
“Blockchain will facilitate secure and decentralized AI marketplaces where IoT-generated data can be traded without intermediaries. This will democratize access to AI and data, especially for small businesses, while ensuring transparent and fair compensation for data providers.” – Curtis O’Neal, founder, Cybernetics Global
