Eligibility

Duties and Commitments 

Leadership Development Committee
 

Eligibility: Any individual employed by a Full Member in good standing may apply to the GTIA Board of Directors with several exclusions: 

  • No person shall be eligible for election if any employees or principals of such person’s company is currently serving on the GTIA Board or has served as a director of the GTIA Board for two or more consecutive terms prior to such election.
  • If the Leadership Development Committee (LDC) and the Chair of the Board determine it is in the best interest of GTIA to nominate an available candidate who is not employed by a Full Member, the LDC may do so, but for no more than five of total Board seats. 

Board Duties and Commitments: 

  • The Board is the governing body of GTIA and GTIA Foundation.
  • The Board works with the President and CEO to set GTIA’s strategic direction. The President and CEO and the GTIA staff are responsible for executing the Board’s strategy.
  • The Board represents the interests of the entire association. It values and promotes cooperation and participation among all members, and as individuals, should not represent any specific segment or constituency group of the membership. 

All applicants agree to and understand the following commitments to GTIA should they be elected: 

  • A minimum of one two-year term with the option to apply for a second two-year term.
  • Attendance at three (3) official board meetings each year and potentially several video conferences, as needed:
  • Spring (usually April)
  • July/August in conjunction with ChannelCon
  • November Board Retreat
  • Potential assignment to one or more of GTIA’s board committees with the expectation that they will participate in regular video calls and activities in addition to regular communication with the committee’s Chair.
  • Board members acknowledge that they do not currently serve in a Board-level capacity in a related organization.
  • Board members acknowledge that all documents, information, and/or conversations shared in Board or related session is confidential and not to be shared. This includes, but is not limited to, photos or recordings or generally sharing confidential information in any way. 

The GTIA Leadership Development Committee (LDC) is charged with identifying and evaluating a pool of potential candidates for the Board of Directors, recommending candidates to serve as Chair and Vice Chair, presenting a slate of directors and officers to the Board by December 31st of each calendar year. 

2027-2028 Board Election Timeline 

August 1, 2026: Launch Call for Board Applications

August 31, 2026: Deadline to submit applications

September/October: Leadership Development Committee (LDC) reviews and evaluates written applications. Candidates may be shortlisted for virtual interviews with the LDC members in October.

November 12: LDC meets in-person and, after careful deliberation, selects the candidates for the 2027-2028 slate.

November 13: LDC presents the proposed slate to the Board for ratification.

All applicants will be notified of their application status by November 20, 2026.

January: GTIA notifies the membership of the proposed slate of directors, and the membership electronically votes to approve the slate.

March: GTIA announces the election results.

May 1: 2027-2028 Board term begins
